starter fuse blows when i turn defroster on????

The rear defroster runs off the starter circuit. It could be the defroster switch, relay or the embedded defroster. Try testing the switch and relay and then the wiring for a short.

Who is telling the truth/voltage problem

Pretty much - it's one less source of electrical problems. Just be sure to provide strain relief where those "big 'ol cables" screw down onto the starter solenoid and alternator posts - any weight on those will rip them right out of the starter/alternator. It also helps to squeeze in the largest...

Who is telling the truth/voltage problem

Do yourself a large favour and upgrade the battery/alternator/ground cables to 2 awg. Just about everyone on this forum will tell you it will eliminate any number of current and future gremlins.

    Auxilliary Gauges vs Stock

Thanks for the reply. Implementing the gauges isn't an issue, and it won't be at the expense of the stock ones. I am looking more for opinions on the value on using them - I don't want a 747 cockpit of gauges if the stock units are reliable. On my 952 I have duplicate boost, temp and press...

    Auxilliary Gauges vs Stock

Hi, I am considering adding some aux gauges to my 2000 4.0L Auto. I am definite on the trans temp gauge but wondering whether to go with oil press and water temp. I guess the question here is how accurate and reliable the stock gauges are by comparison on the late models? I have searched and...

    Electricity

If your charging system (rectifier/regulator) isn't right you may be getting more than 12v at the lighter. Since you aren't blowing fuses or experiencing weird electrical issues it's probably borderline. However cellphones, etc are far less tolerant of voltage fluctuations than vehicle...

Need help deciding on a lift for my XJ

I'm in the same boat - been looking at various kits and searching the forums and the net in general for feedback. I like the look of the Iron Rock 5.5" kit, and I'm probably going to go straight to the SYE & driveshaft route, not even bother with the transfer case drop - that's always struck me...

Finally found a problem couldnt search and answer

Go with the highest rated battery you can squeeze in and replace all 6 cables with 2awg. Just be careful to provide strain relief for the starter motor solenoid connection or the weight will rip the terminal post right out of the plastic housing - trust me!
