I ran mine with bad pinion bearings for 4 years, roughly 30,000 miles, and the noise was ridiculous but there was no noticeable play in anything. When i finally got around to fixing it the bearing and race really weren't in that bad of shape. Obviously enough to make tons of racket but it wasn't...
FWIW I've got USA standards in my 8.25. I DD it all winter and they don't make too much noise. As far as strength goes I cannot claim anything there. But yes, set up is crucial as well as break in period especially on a cheaper gear set.
I had them on my 98 when I got it. They were handy since the leafs were shot. Didn't have on board air. If I didn't have a compressor available I just used a bike pump. They are useful but limiting at the same time. I guess it all depends on what you do with it. There are bags for the lowrider...
Do you mean stainless? I didn't know they offered ceramic. Either way, there is a stainless kospeed header on my girlfriends car (Honda accord). Nice thick flange and tubing appears to be good for the price. The only issues are the gaskets are usually junk and if you are looking from the engine...
So I'm going shopping for the main ground upgrade tonight or tomorrow and I could have sworn there was a DIY write up on it or at least a estimation on cable length. I'm pulling my hair out searching. If anyone knows its where abouts I would enjoy a link or a hint.
Well guys, I am an idiot. I know I said it was butt cold here and it was even more cold today (sub zero temps) and what usually happens when it's cold? Bad batteries get even worse. Had to jump it this morning and after school. I'm surprised no one said "check your battery dummy!" Not sure why...
Yeah, grounds and charge wire will be the next thing I do.
For the ground wires and such, is there any "cable ends" or eyelets I should avoid or try to get? I'm assuming copper is my best bet.
@jeeperjohn so a capacitor inline with the actual head unit? Never heard that one before. Might check...
The ground and wiring are all factory equipment but are on my list to be upgraded soon. The power wire for my amps is 2ga or better, I forget exactly. I'm not running any defog setting and the headlight don't just get dim they flicker.
Thanks for the advice so far everyone.
Older jvc head unit was installed before I got it (4 years ago) and appears to have been done at a shop based on the connectors and general cleanliness of install. Subs were done by me like 3 years ago.
So the blower motor going bad is causing some crazy draw on the system then? Just curious...
98 xj 4.0 5 speed etc. having issues with the electrical system, I think. Not heavily modded, aftermarket jvc stereo, 2 amps and 2 12" subs, as well as aftermarket speakers front and rear.
When I turn the blower motor on (which needs fan speed resistor, so it runs on 4 only) the radio briefly...
my buddies old man has a right hand drive cherokee (2000) he uses to deliver mail. his 'drivers' seat is totally roached. just seeing if anyone in MN has any seats laying around they are looking to get rid of. so if you've got a cherokee or grand cherokee passenger seat or a pair you are looking...
