There is nothing wrong with hub/bearing. (from what I can feel that is. The only issue that exists is the stripped studs and and lugs that come a little loose. causing play.)
Well. If the splines for the studs are stripped on the actual hub then yes I'll have to replace it.
I can't just take a...
Can a mod delete this embarrassment of a post :)
Turns out whoever owned this XJ before me somehow stripped out the teeth on 4 studs...
Have two more I have to drill out tomorrow. Purchased an 18 dollar bit so I can get them out. I hope I don't have to pull the hub to put them back through...
Lol I didn't mean for the question mark after I said sorry. Auto correct. I'm not a new york Italian gelled up Guido douchebag either rofl. And like I said I'm typing from my phone and in a rush. My friend has very large property I drove around real quick. I actually found the issue too...
Haha I wanted to do the driver side to see if it would fix the problem. It didn't. So now I'm going to put the rotor and pads on the passenger side :-)
Pulled drive shafts and the vibrations above 35 mph and tapping is still there. Going to replace rotor and pads on driver side. They are very chewed up.
Thanks bud I appreciate it. I always pay it forward. I don't believe in karma. I just believe in being good to all. No matter who/what you are. I'll be off the grid kind off for a few months. Solar power, generators etc etc. Should be interesting and fun! My kind of living.
Sounds like a plan...
I don't want to risk doing any wheeling on the way. Plus it's all flat boring driving from what I hear anyway.
I didn't really put a pry bar under the wheel to see if there is ball joint slop. I guess that would be my best way to check right? Seemed pretty damn tight to me.
The wheel bearing...
Was just curious of a few things :)
June 16th I'll be leaving this hell hole and heading to Idaho Springs. Where I'll be living for a few months. I'll be bouncing around a little bit until I can settle more properly. Just curious as to what kind of spare things you all would take with you for...
There is no play in the front driveshaft what so ever.
I did want to note this.
With all 4 wheels in the air. And the jeep in 4WD I notice that the driver side axle shaft where the u joint is "spins a bit sloppy" as compared to the passenger side. Would this bit of slop while spinning be normal?
Hello Everyone!
So as of a few days ago my front axle has started to make a "clunking" noise that would speed up as I would speed up.
To better scoop you on the details. It does not do it in 4 wheel hi. And it does not do it when I brake.
Coasting and driving it will however. I did replace...
