    CO: 1990 XJ Laredo

I have no problem selling the gears and carriers, separately. Only problem is that I no longer live in the Denver area. I'm currently about 40 miles east of Grand Junction. If you'd be interested, there is a guy on CO4x4.org that makes frequent trips to Denver and is willing to transport things...

    CO: 1990 XJ Laredo

It's been a good Jeep, but it's time to move it along. 1990 XJ Cherokee Laredo 4.0, 5 spd, Upcountry package (factory towhooks, skid plates, 1" taller than standard), rear bumper/ tire rack. Has a new water pump and clutch is only a year and a half old. passed emissions, in Denver, with flying...

    CO: Rockrails

The pair that I originally posted for sale was bought by ARTSTER. I would be happy to build more, if there is interest though. the downside is that the price of steel is skyrocketing and I would have to charge about $225 a pair. I can't wait for the steel market to return to normal. These are...

Knocking sound coming from in between engine and tranny???

A friend had a similar problem, recently. The problem turned out to be the dustshield hitting the flexplate. A little bend, here and there, no more noise.

FS: Lincoln SP 135T Mig Welder

How much use has it had? Is it set up to put on the bottle? How old is it? I could meet you or pick up, depending on its condition.

Looks pretty sweet, but... What becomes the weak link?

What are the secret MPG mods???

I've been in the 22-24 mpg neighborhood. Biggest thing is to lose some weight in your right foot. Only mod on my 4.0 is a K&N on a Rusty's air tube.

    Rock rail questions

The thread cutters look like any other bolt, except that they have a notch or grooves cut in the end. Where are you? I get mine, in the 3/8" flavor, at Hi Strength Bolt in Denver.

    rough country ok?

I had the three inch RC. Both front coils snapped in half on the interstate. You get what you pay for. I'd spend a little more and go with Rusty's. Keeping costs down is fine, but watch for poor quality.

XJ power steering on a CJ ??

Do a search HERE . Steering is discussed quite a bit. It pertains more to CJ5's, but may give you some useful information.

    Rockrail Mounting?

My rails haven't been damaged. However, if they get used (and some people use them a lot), eventually they will need to be replaced. Nothing lasts forever. I've given reasons not to weld. Can someone give reasons to weld? Keep in mind that a well designed piece will not have a mounting system...

    Whats your opinion?

Your 30 should be fine. On the 35, though.... before you put the $$ into it for the super 35 kit, think about a swap. For the same or less money, you could put in a 8.8, 8.25, or D44. With the super 35, you still have a weak housing, as well.

    Rockrail Mounting?

I'm not a fan of welding to the "frame". It takes more effort, affects the tempering of the surounding metal, and makes it much more difficult to remove a damaged rail. Bolts do just fine.

    3" lift on 235/75R15's...?!?!?!?

For a while, on my first XJ, I ran 215's with a three inch. Looked fine.

    Searched rock rails, still undecided.

Just got some pics of ARTSTER's rails, this afternoon.

    St.Vrain rd/Coney Flats, Colorado

Wish I could. Too much work to get done. Should be a good testing ground for those rails.

    Claws

Everyone I've talked to who ran the radial Claws was unhappy with the way they wore, on the road. They all reported 20-25K miles, before the tires were smooth as a baby's bottom. My experience with the MT Baja Belted was the same. Great, off-road, but didn't last long on the pavement.
