    Is my alternator dead???

Thanks for your help guys. Turns out it was the battery. I've since replaced it, and the XJ is running fine. Funny thing is, though, yesterday I fully charged the old battery, and this morning put a volt meter on it, and got 13.8 volts! I'm trying to work out why it wouldn't start the XJ with...

    Is my alternator dead???

Hi guys I have a '95 XJ Classic/Limited with 4.0HO. Over the past week, I have noticed the battery is dead flat after being left overnight. I first thought it was an electrical drain somewhere, but couldn't find it. Now I think I have found the culprit... I put my multimeter on the back of the...

Could my cylinder head be warped or cracked???

Pre mixed. My wife was driving it for about a year... Maybe she ran low and filled it with water. Dunno. Have to ask her. Anyway, I'm just glad it's now fixed! I really didn't want to have to get another car!

Could my cylinder head be warped or cracked???

Hey Joe That's what I can't understand. The water pump I bought was new, from a reputable parts store, and I cleaned and flushed the radiator, and used a "top quality" brand-name coolant... The summer temperatures here in Western Australia can get up to 45C quite often, so I only use good...

Could my cylinder head be warped or cracked???

OK. I managed to get a mechanic over to check it out. Turns out my water pump, which is only a year old, was leaking and was corroded on the inside, and the thermostat was the wrong type. There is also a small pin hole in the radiator tank which I will be getting brazed tomorrow. $600 later, my...

    Rocker cover still leaking...

It lasted about 2 weeks before it started leaking. The RTV I used is for industrial high heat applications, so I figured it would be OK... But it looks like I'm going to have to go back to a '95 cover if they aren't interchangeable. Thanks for the replies, guys, really appreciate it!:wave1:

    Rocker cover still leaking...

After replacing my rocker cover gasket about 5 times, I decided to use high temp RTV silicone to secure the rocker cover to the head. Unfortunately, it is still leaking.:rattle: I have a '95 4.0L HO with a '96 rocker cover. Could the problem be the change in year for the rocker cover?
