as long as I know that my wheel isn't going to fire off my truck while going 70 down the highway, i'm at ease. Now maybe i'll have my brakes serviced and hopefully they'll adjust them right and limit some of the movement.
The ujoints all got replaced about 3 weeks ago. I know it's not them. When I have the tired lugged on, i can still pull on the tires when the truck is jacked up and get it to clunk.
so you're saying that's just the way it is? No way to tighten it so it doesn't clunk anymore. ? did...
Hey all,
So I've been having this rear end clunk noise for a while when i turned a corner and I couldn't figure out what it was. Shocks were tight and everything...
finally i figured it out... popped my wheel off and i can take the cover of my drum brake and move it like 1mm back and forth...
yea.. that'd be awesome if you could look up those websites for me. I have my book but the book is usually vague and the pictures usually suck.
My radiator is leaking from the passenger side, down low... i cant quite figure out where from. And, it's only when the truck is running. Not sure...
Hey everyone,
So my radiator seems to be leaking on my 99 XJ... i looked up the part at the local parts store and it's 130 for a new radiator.. which i'll probably do. I'm just wondering if anyone's ever replaced a radiator for a 4.0 liter 4x4 with AC before. I'm trying to get an idea of the...
my house water pressure is very low.. so it'll probably be fine.. just gotta wait for a day when it's not below freezing so my garden hose wont be frozen.. maybe some day this week i'll stay home from work and do a flush. I'll go get the prestone 7 hour flush.
i DEFINITELY dont want to deal...
So.. this seems really odd to me.. and it doesn't really make sense that it would be the usual thermostat issue.
I start my 99 XJ and let it run, go out and the temperature is to the middle of the guage where it's supposed to be for it to blow hot air... so then i turn on the heat... cool air...
thanks to this thread, i found the source of my pond scum smell.. thanks everyone.
lifted up the carpet on my drivers side and there was a huge puddle underneith and the undercarpet foam was soaked.
i soaked it all up with a towel and now i have to find the leak. The headliner is not wet so...
dont want the crap kind with the two pins on top and bottom of a shaft, those are the one's i have and they're making a MAJOR clunking noise...
i want to upgrade to the ones like the JKS quicker disconnects or the RE1140's
if anyone has any used please let me know
thanks!
found out what was plaguing me... my sway bar disconnects SUCK!!!!
i was able to figure this out by jumping on my truck to get it rocking while a buddy of mine looked underneith..
then when he though it was the disconnects, we disconnected the linkages and drove around and there was no more...
mine was doing that too.... just figured out that it was the crappy sway bar disconnects i have... try disconnecting them and see if the noise is still there.
wow.. even more shit to check out..
with regard to my disconnects.. i cant remember the name of them, but yes, they are the kind that disconnect from both top and bottom.
One of my tests was going to be to disconnect them, and go for a ride to see if it still happens. simple and easy test.
Ok, so i have checked everything... I have a 99 XJ with rubicon express 4.5" lift kit installed. It was installed with lower control arms backward, i have since turned one of them around thinking that a very loud clunk i heard in the front end was a result of that.
After swapping that one...
yea.. i found a haynes for 7.13 but after shipping it ends up being 12 bucks.. so i think i'll just hit the local parts store and buy a new one for 15. My buddy has the service manual on CD thing for his 99 XJ so i'll get that from him and be all set.
thanks for your opinions... i never like...
my xj is a 99... about 85k miles..
i'll have to look up where the idler pully is. not sure what that is.
so these xj's dont have auto tension? where do i adjust the tension.
i guess i'll have to break down and buy a book
Hi all,
I just want to make sure that it's the serpentine belt that is causing this issue before i go and change it.
When i start my truck in the morning it starts screaming bloody murder... like seriously it's the loudest screech i've ever heard come from a car.
it gets louder if i step on...
