    TPS location?

86 XJ with the 2.8 V6 (Rochester Varajet carb) and a stick. Anyone know where the TPS is? I'm wondering if it's internal to the carb... TIA Steve

    Rear Shock Problems

That link is good only if you've managed to break the spot welds on the nuts. Otherwise it's more work than is necessary. If the welds are intact just drill and re-tap them. Here's a write up on the process... http://jeephorizons.com/phpbb/viewtopic.php?t=2016 Rock On! Steve

Sneak peeks at my D44 buildup...

LOL! No writeups will be done until it's bolted in and been wheeled twice! I just won't have the time until then. I realize that on this board it's been done quite a few times (this is where I gathered 99% of the info during the planning stages), but there are lots of boards out there that a...

Sneak peeks at my D44 buildup...

It's been the bain of my existence for the last few weeks...but it's starting to come together. I'm waiting for the custom built truss, then I can route all my brakelines and finally get this thing in. They'll be a couple of writeups on this as the axleshafts (including bearing and seals, of...

Wheels and tires for sale - Richmond, VA

The BFG's are sold. The Canyons are still available and the price is $50 lower...I want them out of my garage! To reiterate: 5 - Factory Canyon Rims from an 02 TJ Sport. Excellent condition. They are wrapped with 30"x9.5" Wrangler GSA's. Tread is minimal on 4 of them (50K+). However, one tire...

    full size spare?

I've got a 30x9.50 BFG MT in mine. Had to get a longer bolt to reach through the rim correctly, but it fits back there just fine.

What year did they start useing the 8.25"?

    According to the info I have the 8.25 first went into XJ's in 1991. All 8.25's have thicker axle tubes than D35's (3" as opposed to 2.62"). Here's the info that I have: Dana 35 non c-clip - 27 spline, 1.18" diameter shafts, 7.58" ring gear, 2.62" axle tube - used 84-89 Dana 35 c-clip - 27...

why use t case drop kit

The drop kit actually installs at the crossmember. The term t-case drop is actually decieving since you are really dropping the tail of the tranny, taking the t-case with it...another, more accurate term is a crossmember drop. Essentially you are tilting the engine/tranny/t-case assembly...

    D44 Alloy axle shafts

So, I just got my hands on a rear D44 out of an '87 Cherokee. I want to put some alloy shafts in prior to installing it into the truck (and keep the originals as spares). I've pretty much settled on Superior/Foote shafts, but the problem is their product catalog doesn't list a part number for...

    D44 pinion vs. 8.25 pinion

Yea, I knew about the axle tube differences requiring different u-bolts. Even if the tubes were the same size I would get new ubolts... I was more concerned about the driveshaft length and whether or not the ujoints were the same or not. Thanks for all your responses. Steve

    D44 pinion vs. 8.25 pinion

So then it sounds like you just used the existing shaft? What about the diff yoke...did it require a different u-joint? Steve

    Where to buy OME?

Another vote for Dirk at DPG. I got the OME kit for the TJ from him and would buy more stuff from him in a heartbeat... Rock On! Steve

    D44 pinion vs. 8.25 pinion

So I've decided to put a D44 in the 97 (instead of the 8.8 I was thinking about). I should be picking one up this weekend from a guy in MD. Here my question: What is the difference in the pinion length between a D44 and an 8.25? I know that the D44 is about an inch or so longer than the...

    Dana 44

I'm looking for a Dana 44 out of a 87-89 Cherokee to replace the axle in my 97. Gearing does not matter to much, but 3.54 would be nice. I'm in Richmond, VA but am willing to drive a reasonable distance to pick it up. PM me. Steve
