Holy old thread batman!! :moon:  I don't even have my XJ anymore, I got rid of it in July and replaced it with a ZJ. I replied to this thread in June, of 2003. On the new ZJ, I put the BFG AT KO's on it and couldn't be happier. I think the ko's are better than the duellers, but the...
I already have the shaft removed on my 88 xj and I need to know how to get the axle seal out. I am talking about the one that remains in the axle tube after the shaft is removed. Thanks
My rear axle is leaking oil and I need to change the seals. Should I still do both the inner, outer and replace the bearing while in there, or would I be okay just replacing the inner seals. Also, does anyone know of where there is a write up on the net? Thanks
I just disco'd the vac line at the solenoid, and plugged up the hole in the solonoid. I didn't disco the wiring, so by what you are saying the solonoid is still working just not the valve, right :dunno:
You could also just disconnect the EGR Valve soloneid which is on the fender right behind the fuel pump resistor. Disco'd mine 6 months ago because of the stalling.
You can get a whole new trac bar online for 50 bucks shipped. Check 4wd.com or I'm sure someone else will chime in with a different website.

I have an 88 XJ non disco d30 and the axle tubes are dry. There are seals inside the diff. There are just dust covers at the knuckle end. You can get seals for the outside though.

When I changed the water pump, i broke the bolts loose before I removed the belt. Then after I took the belt off, they threaded right out with my fingers. Also, you could try one of those craftsman strap wrenches. They work pretty good.

This is just a shot in the dark, but did you install a new radio in the dash lately? I've heard that by doing this you can knock a vac line loose on the back of the heater sw assy. Just a thought
