Is there a certain year 242 transfer case that would be better to replace a 229 on 84 xj? I would still like the full time 4wd option

I know it's not a well regarded engine in the xj world and there is also other variables with suspension, axels, Etc. But I was wondering if anyone has ran the 2.8l with 35s, 3 speed auto and 5.13s?

Yeah you have a point. I was gonna carefully look at it, measure, smaller hole, etc. Prior to just making a bigger hole. Just haven't had a chance yet. Been busy with other stuff
