    Speedometer vs. OBDII

I wouldn't worry about it. Most speedometers read a tad bit fast. Federal standards on cars for the U.S. market used to allow up to a 5% error, that was back in the late 90's. probally holds true today. Its always better to read a few mph fast than it is to have it read slower than your true...

    oddly optioned xj's

my 87 xj had a full black interior. I wish I saved it for my 92 with tan interior. It was an 87, two tone, 4.0L, NP231, AW4, D30, D35, p/s, a/c, manual locks and windows, fixed back front seats, no rear defroster, 4 speaker stereo, and factory rear swing out tire carrier. Oddly optioned if you...

    bolt on valve stems

I run the plain jane rubber ones on my cragars, never had a problem. My father originally ran nice chrome bolt on valve stems on his cragars, never had a problem with them loosening up or the caps seizing to the stem. However even when properly torqued as per the instructions, I noticed the...

This the right stuff for exhaust replacement?

I ran a magnaflow cat on both of my xj's and they were direct fit and great. My motorcraft supplier at the ford dealer I work at is a vendor for eastern catalytic converters. We use them for off brand cars and customers that can't afford oem cats. Out of the 20 we have used, we only had a...

    AW-4 "average" lifespan?

I have about 230K on my aw4 now. Trans operates perfect still, nice firm shifts. I change the fluid and filter yearly. I don't beat on the jeep on the street. I also avoid excess wheelspin when I can but you can only do so much when your in the mud or snow.

    oddly optioned xj's

I may just go to an office furniture type store. The lock looks exactly like what I have on my desk to lock the cabinet where a desktop pc would go.

    oddly optioned xj's

I have a lido storage box in my 92. I took me a year and a half of searching ebay for one, and finally I found one back in february. Its nice how the back is open on it and it uses the cubby itself as part of the backing, it gives you a good amount of storage. I just wish I could find a key for...

fitting 6.5" speakers in sound bar?

Anyone ever fit 6.5" speakers in the soundbar on pre-97 xj's? I finally blew out the stock jensens that came in the bar I bought from jeepsareus.com. I have a set of 6.5" alpines in storage somewhere. Before I make the trek there to drag them out I figured I would check here to see if they...

    Exhaust Questions

ah catco, iirc thats what I used on my 87 xj. IIRC, that also passed nj state inspection just fine. For some reason the muffler dynomax uses for the 87-92 xj's is a 2.5" inlet, and the 93 and up dynomax kits are 2.25" inlet. I don't know why they did that. I know on a stock xj its 2.25" from...

    Exhaust Questions

On my 92 and my 87 I replaced everything from the cat back. The cat on my 92 was 2.5" inlet with a 4 bolt flange and 2.25" outlet. Muffler was 2.25" in and out. The dynomax kit for the xj was 2.5" inlet on the muffler but it came with the proper adapter to mate it to the cat. Tailpipe was 2.25"...

    full frame under XJ

IIRC, commanches were unibody under the cab and traditional frame under the bed.

Sway bar link rubbing on spring?

Is it me or do the swaybar bushings look completely shot both at the endlinks and on the frame?

    chasing vibes on the highway

No sye installed. Just checked, steel shims from rubicon express are pretty cheap. I sell parts at a linc-merc dealer. Our neighbor is a mopar store. U-bolts are pretty cheap there as I pay 25% over cost. It was actually cheaper a few weeks back for me to buy oem upcountry springs from the...

    chasing vibes on the highway

Not sure what do with the truck. I would love to just take out the t-case drop and put a set of shims in the rear leaf packs and see how it drives. Im not sure what size shim I would need. That inch gained back at the tcase would defintly help out the front shaft. THe lift height isn't even...
