What did you do to your XJ today

Installed some rear quarter guards. Wish I had these mounted before the Rubicon trip earlier this summer.

Big thank you to Josh for wiring up my aux fan switch today!!

Now I'm masking off the doors and whatnot preparing to paint my rockers black. I'll post up some pics tomorrow. Should look pretty good. Trying to get all this little stuff done so that when my wheels show up I can finish up the suspension and finally be done for a while...

Well the shit show continues.... Raceline (allied wheel) has a really weird way of notifying people that they discontinued specific items! Apparently if you order something that has been discontinued, they just ship ya something else..... Wtf

I called allied to see wtf, and sure enough Greg (very helpful, very cool guy) says that they don't sell much of the 15" beadlocks. Makes sense....
So to reduce inventory they decided to combine all three styles essentially into one wheel. I missed the last couple RT233's by a few days.... Fml so now I have basically have some really fancy spares....

So I was told they would either pay to powdercoat the 233's I already had, or sell me 2 more 232's at 'sponsor price'.... I really can't afford 2 more rims but oh well. Hopefully they are on their way so I can get the 98 buttoned up.

Spent some time on the phone with Mary at tnt customs, super nice very helpful! Sending me all the bushings and a few joint rebuild kits + tools so I can take care of all the loose worn joints on the 95. Gonna be a busy busy few weeks!

Ha ha, yeah Scott I was kinda disappointed! I love the finish on the wheels I got from you..... Now they are all just spares! Oh well, I definitely can't afford to buy new wheels atm, just means that the wj knuckle swap won't be happening till after Christmas. I just want to get it trail ready.

Starting the tear down of the 95. Need to go through all the joints, replace most of the bushings, do some painting, install the front coil spacers, chromo's, and new steering.

Hope to have that all done by the end of the weekend, then start mine the following weekend. Hoping for smooth sailing for a while!

pulled the pinion out on the ford 9" and its done:( so getting a quote from a freind for 4.88s after talking 5.13 will be to deap for me and if its crawl doesnt go low enough I can get a doubler

Do you plan to stay at 35" or you going to 37" eventually? Being as it isn't your dd anymore I'd go 5.13 if you were gonna go later to 37"

Dumb moment I forgot yours is the ax-15, ya 4.88 would and should give you the same power and torque as us with a aw4 and 5.13 for 37" tires.

:flamemad: This whole wheel fiasco is really getting to me.

Talked to 'Greg' at allied wheel on Tuesday about the whole issue, (I bought the first 2 wheels through iron rock off road because they had the best price) Greg told me to deal with him directly from there on out. Made sense....
They cut me a deal on 2 more wheels, and said they would get them out ASAP. Great.... He told me to send him an email with a bunch of info (I think basically a shipping label/order) and contact info and credit card number and he'd take care of it.....

Called Thursday to see what was up since I hadn't heard anything, no Greg. So I send him an email, he says he doesn't know what the status is and he's 'out of the office' and to call 'Karol' at allied..... Ok

Call 'Karol' today, and she know nothing in regards to my order... Then does some looking and finds it, says they have the order and its ready to ship but have no credit card info to process the order.... I told her, again that I had given all the info to Greg and he was supposed to have shipped them out already!!!

So now I'm waiting for these ass clowns at allied to communicate with each other, figure it out and ship my damn wheels. Problem is being it was Friday afternoon I'm sure nothing will happen till Monday now... :flamemad:

I'll be so happy when this bullshit is done!!!

In the mean time, I got my brothers 95 all torn apart, front axle painted, brakes replaced, swapped the shafts out for new chromo's, installed the coil spacers, and got the knuckles drilled and steering in. Just have to fine tune the steering, then start on the rear tomorrow. Hoping tomorrow I can get the rear axle out and painted, breather attached (and plumbed) arms out, joints cleaned greased/replaced, and bushings replaced. Then paint the arms and hopefully have it all back together and driving by Monday morning.

I have a 4.0 ax15 and 37's and wish I had 5.38 gears. my 5.13 just don't cut it so for 35's I would go no less than 5.13
And it will take stress off the rest of your drivetrain.

Even with a v8/auto, I'm still going 5.38s and 37s

At first I thought it would be too much, but it's ideal when you run the calculator..

Well I finally decided to cut n fold my passenger rear fender after having the driver side done now for over a year lol

Decided to use the rustolium rubber flex seal stuff, the other side was done with bed liner and most has already chipped off, hopefully this seals it from water plus doesn't open up.

Oy, I need to get on here more often :spin1:

Need a CV shaft. Wish I could remember the measurement...I still have the old shaft so I can measure it tomorrow. The CV joint just nuked at 65MPH one day coming home from work.

Finally got around to it. I measured between the 2 red marks I put on the photo below (I think it's the right place to measure but figured I'd include the pic to be sure). Fully collapsed it's 30.0", fully expanded it's 33.75"

Wheels finally showed up today. Thank goodness that show is over.....

Got all the bushings replaced, and flex joints cleaned and greased on the 95. Also re painted the sliders. Got the upper arms in, just gonna take some finagling to get the lowers in. Should have it all buttoned up tomorrow!
