No, but I got the speaker pod out of the 97. Did you get the axle shafts? I was just there again today, saw that silver 01.
There was a 97? Must be new. What color? And no, I didn't pull any shafts.

Fortunately, there are eleventy billion additional XJ's that weren't crushed from this program.
The main goal of a salvage yard is to sell salvage parts. If they have the option to keep and sell non-drivetrain parts, they will. I don't think it will be that hard to find a 4.0L engine, a 231, and a D30 in the future.
P.S. To answer the OP's question, swap the power seat sliders with manual ones. They are held to the seat frame with four bolts.
They will send the scrap metal over to China, and it will come back reincarnated as a riceburner economics and take away even more jobs. The cars we drive and the doctors we see will be controlled by the government in the near future. I'm just glad that I'm old enough to have seen the "good old days". We rode our bicycles without helmets and had cars without seat belts.
Hmmmm...this sounds like a pretty screwed Gov't "help" plan. Maybe it'll open a window for enterprising folks to make more OEM-type aftermarket parts. If I had space or know someone who did, I suggest hoarding XJ,ZJ,WJ parts. They may get a bit scarce.
:fuse::flamemad:a very clean and straight 'gen 2' 2-door i6 with a manual (the coveted NVG 3550),
Yes, it was there Wednesday and still there Friday. It was light blue metalic. It was completely intact on Wednesday, but some dash stuff and the axles were gone on friday. Seats were still there and were really comfy. There was a 97? Must be new. What color? And no, I didn't pull any shafts.
..yeah here in the Midwest this "Cash for Clunkers " deal is really haveing an adverse effect on the effort to obtain many XJ engine and body parts-My ol 1986 has rusted apart mostly everywhere due to the seasonal phenomena of salting the streets here in winter-I recently attempted and failed to purchase a fairly new 1996 XJ body only from one of the local junkyards because of this vendor's assistance that "the vehicles have to be crushed and shredded to be re-cycled"-In my personal estimation it is already hard to keep our Jeeps running and it seems this oxymoronic policy will soon hasten the limited supply of available replacement parts for all our vehicles-TIA
Any chance you can tell us what JY they are likely to go to (unless they're being crushed directly)? My local JYs don't bother spraypainting anything except the engine. I have nothing planned for Saturday if you want to go yank the axles out of some trucks and need a hand.theres 4 xj's 6 zj's 3 rangers and 3 exploders all at my work, all 3 exploders have the 8.8, 2 are 4:10's with limited slip, other is a 3:73, all 3 rangers are the offroad whatever ones and 2 have almost new 31's, other has a set of 30's. kind of sucks we cant take anything off of these....
Damn, I'm sad to have done that to my trusty rusty XJ. I've had that since brand new with 12 miles on the odometer and turned it in with 227,000 on the clock (1999 XJ Sport). That rig got me through some fierce snowstorms and crazy commutes in and around Boston. It also scared the pants off me with death-wobbles after my budget boost (fixed through the help of this site!).
That XJ had no leaks, a strong motor and good AW4. The rockers were getting eaten by rust, but I did my best with patches and POR15 and then Herculined them.
It is a sad day and my old XJ certainly deserves better. I just couldn't pass up the $3,500 and I needed something more reliable for traveling with my 9 month old son and 3 year old daughter.
I just really wish the goven't could've inspected those rigs that, like mine, were still very service-able and provided them to folks who needed a helping hand with a car to get to work. Seems senseless to just crush them.
Anyway - anyone near Manchester NH can pull a new set of Brown Dog motor mounts off mine (great product), a C-ROK steering brace, an adjustable track bar, a 1 year old Dynomax cat-back, a set of APN headers, and a 2000 intake with good sensors.
I'm looking forward to my new rig, but I am very sad to see my old work-horse go. It seems such an inglorious end to such a trust-worthy vehicle.
Thank you to everyone on this forum! God Bless!
Even though your decision made economical sense for you... I have to say, hope you enjoyed my tax dollars.cliffnotes: I clunked my XJ

All of the clunkers in our town are being crushed. There are 10 or so nice XJ's in line today. Sad, very sad.
Just look at all of them in this local news video.
