$11 Bastard Leaf Pack Writeup. *Tons of pics*

If i have a 3" aal and a 2 " block and it sets about 4'5, how can I get that up to about 6'5 of lift with a bastard pack. and what order would the leafs go in?

I figured I'd post a couple pics of mine. I'm using what are said to be F-150 springs. I went to the junkyard and searched through a bunch of packs they had in a pile when I found them.
I used the ford shackles and got about 6.5" from them. They actually flex and ride pretty well, better than the s10 springs I had before.
I have adjusted the wheelbase since the first pic was taken, you will notice the rear axle is closer to the front. It has also settled to ~6.5", in the pic it's closer to ~7+"

We put F-150 springs in the rear of my friends 89 Ranger. When I had them upside down, and jumped on them, I was impressed with how soft and flexy they were. When we put them on, he got ALOT more lift than the stock springs, with helpers, and 3" blocks. I have really thought about using some. As our local U-Pull it has TONS of F-150's, but very few S-10's. We loaded it up the other day, with the entire bed filled with rocks the size of baseballs. Handled the load ALOT better. Seams to ride better loaded, or unloaded.

F-150 springs are longer, are they not?? When we took measurements, I remember the Ranger/F-150 springs being about 6" longer. I bet cutting another 3" at each end would work fine.

I might have to find some new main leaves. Mine look like I took Mr. Potato Heads smile, and spun it... :D I think mine sits at 15.5-16" in the rear. which is about 1.5" sag...

Yeah, overall they are about 5" longer eye to eye. The centering pin is about 1.5" furthur back as well.
I ended up running full F150 packs, after doing a couple mods. My writeup is here: http://naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=949492

lol well I have only sat here a read 17 pages and if its in here my bad I missed it but Im wanting to get a bastard pack that is 4.5 and I want it to flex really nice and I dont know how many s10/dak leafs I should use? Is one better then the other? If it matters Im at 3 inches of lift with a sye and 31s. Im wanting 4.5 so later I can go 6, but not just yet. Any and all help would be great. Thanks

This thread is awesome. Seems like the S10 basrard pack is my ticket to sending my jeep skyward. Will be heading to the local JY after vacaton to look for some leafs. Planning to run the XJ main leaf and put all S10 leafs under that..call it good. Should get a nice lift out of them. Very excited to do this project!!:guitar:

yeah its been like that for months with me. i sure would like to see some pics too.
yea we need to contact someone bout getting those pics working.. Its like a huge tease up in here.. Seems like a tremdously informative write up,pics would just take it to the next level...

Come on... Gimme some pics....

IIRC Timmay lost the pics in a server crash or something.

does anyone know of a 6" junkyard lift? or anything bigger than 4"?
Not really a good idea, at least in front. At that point you need to at least change the control arms or better, look into drop brackets or longarms.
Getting the rear to a good riding 6" lift is doable with JY parts, here's how I did it a while ago. It worked great, flexed awesome, and rode smooth. http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=949492&highlight=f150+writeup

Wow, look at that, on the page RIGHT BEFORE this one, there's a link to a PDF file of the original post WITH all the pics. I'll even save you the trouble of bothering to read the entire thread by giving you the hint to look on page 16 out of 17 (as it displays on my computer). Download the PDF for the best spring rebuild writeup ever, WITH pics.

Oh, and major kudos to JAS for continuing to host that file, preserving the post that started it all.

Got em.
