So, i have some big plans for the next couple months including a new dpg 3 core radiator, tranny oil change w/ filter, tranny temp guage, and maybe a different cooler. I did a bunch of searching, (about 4 hours today) and kinda answered some questions, but created even more questions.

Here is some of the posts that i have been reading on that i found some of the following information on.

And now i have the following questions, and rather than jacking around with 10 posts many of you will not read and flame me for anyway, i will keep it to one post and you can all respond together.

Question #1
So am i to assume that The dextron II/III is the best thing to use, and that it is not even be a good idea to do a synth blend in my trans? BTW im running a 97 AW4. Has anyone used the Castrol fluid that is now called domestic multi-vehicle? Here is a link for those who have no idea what im talking about.

Also, is putting some lucas tranny conditioner in with the fluid change a good idea?

I was talking to my local wrencher for hire, and he told me that he usually mixes trans fluid half dead t-rex and synth. Has any one tried this on the AW4? I tried it on an old 700R4 and it worked great, but i cant afford to fawk up my aw4 just to try something if you know it is not going to work.

Question #2
I am also thinking about what kind of tranny temp gauge to run, i have seen that there are several different ones available, with anything from mechanical to electrical. How good is the B&M electric gauge like on this link.

I have seen a couple people have guage pods on the a pillers as well, where is a good place to source both the guage and the pod from?

Question #3
I have the factory tranny cooler as listed in this post about half way down
http://www.naxja.org/forum/showthread.php?t=942060&highlight=transmission+cooler

How would you rate the factory cooler? Would it be a good idea to add an additional cooler to the system? What kind of coolers do you all run?

I use this rig mainly for wheeling, but I drive to where i play, up to 6 hours away, and this summer i will start pulling a small camper to wheeling spots as well since the oldest child is old enough to go and camp too.

Im wanting the best results out of my aw4 for wheeling and pulling in the 100* summer heat. Let me know what you all think now, i know all the searching i did came up with stuff from last year, i know some of you fawkers have been wrenching since then.

Oh, i guess i should say that this is a 97XJ, 6 inch lift, 35" Truxs M/Ts
