We are switching suppliers at work... so I was browsing through the new Neapco drivetrain catalog and see that they also off Yokes and such... so I start flipping through and I find this:

Spline Data:
Width 1.176" 27 spline
Uses 1.5" seal

This is a tranny slip yoke according to neapco
http://www.neapco.com/pdf/2004mastercatalogds245.pdf

scroll down to 47 to see what you think, I'll be calling Neapco next wednesday to look into this, just wanted to see what else anybody thought. Might be a nice cheap alternative instead of dropping $120 + shipping

Or check page 50... 47 appears to have "ears" which is incorrect

I think the yoke I need is n2-3-6081x

I think you want either one of these:

2-3-9211X 1.1760 26/27 1.500" 4.8910" Corvette
2-3-6081X 1.1760 26/27 1.500" 5.4690" T350

The one you listed is:

N2-3-6081X 1.172 26/27 1.500 5.469 NP 207R * T350

what page did you find that vette yoke on? I punched that number into google and it's the same as the spicer number :)

I just want to find it in that neapco pdf
Ok, another question
When it says

1.1760-26 Based on 27 Spline

is it 26 or 27?!

I found it on this site:

http://www.drive-lines.com/neapco/1310.php

It is down the in the 1310 Tansmission Slip yokes towards the bottom of the page.

As for your other questions I am not sure I am considering going this route for my SYE on my 242 as well and I just want to make sure I get the right part before I start.

Well I got one on order at my local Traction... $75
Much better then paying $120 and I don't even pay shipping. Unless it's wrong of course :twak:

Remember you don't just need the spline to be correct and have U bolt flanges on it, but must be made to take a CV/Double Cardon joint. This is different to a normal uni setup and why the Corvette one work for instance.
Maybe you can cross reference the numbers I give on my write up to the chart that was on that pdf. http://www.go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoSYEconversion.htm

Marcus if you follow the link that Bubba posted...
section: 1310 Transmission Slip Yokes
It says "Bearing Strap (BS) / Constant Velocity (CV) Style"

So I am banking on luck that it is the right one, I will definitely follow up a post my results, one question that has always stumped me, why can't it use straps? The stock front shaft uses a heavier duty style strap.... at least that is what it looks like, I have never pulled the front shaft though. I'll be doing that after exams to install new joints :)

There are no yokes in that link that have the "CV" abbreviation.

JRoc, I am also looking for this yoke, I would really appreciate it if you could pm me with the results, I'm dying to swap the 242 into my dd which has a 231, thanks buddy.

Yea I've seen that listing before... I've ordered it in but it doesn't mean I have to pay for it :p. like I said it's not special order so if it's wrong, I am sure my buddy matty will get me the right one :)

I'm going to bring my spare 231, and I am going to pull my front shaft when it comes in 2-3 weeks, that way I can match it all up...

My question though, if the yoke matches up but it's threaded for straps... whats wrong with that? DO straps never accept a CV joint?

2-3-9211X 1.1760 26/27 1.500" 4.8910" Corvette
Thats the specs on the yoke again RCP, I know that you said it doesn't say CV on it in that listing, only in the header... I'm banking on luck here ;)

Nope!No Way,No How.Totally different beast!

Never seen straps on a CV joint as you would not have the clearance for bolt heads on that side of the yoke let alone be able to do them up.
Look at my picture below and you can see you the bolt heads are on the other side as there just would not be any clearance for them on the other as it rotated downward and the gap closes up even more. That part bridges right across to the other side and supports a center ball and pivot inside the middle as well.

This is the part that is used instead on straps and has the center pivot support as well.
