My friend has a 88 limited with a 6 in lift. He thinks he doesnt need a SYE. Is he right?

I ran my 87 at 6.5" of lift with no SYE for a year or more.
I never had a problem. I ran a WJ slipyoke, 1" transfercase drop, and had the rear end shimmed 4*.

Know of a guy who was running somewhere around 7" of lift for a year or more with no SYE...just a TC drop and some shims....
every jeep is different.
Now...is an SYE a good idea? Yeah....he's probably chewing up U-joints pretty quick...
