Hi guys-
my D30 on my 91 Laredo is kinda tired with 250K on it.
Instead of putting the effort into rebuilding a vac disco axle, I'd like to use an ABS axle because of the bigger U joints.
My XJ sees only light wheeling, mostly bad NorthEast weather- and 32s are the largest tires this axle is going to see. For the give-away prices of the local U pullits, it makes sense for me to have the slight upgrade of the larger U joints for nealy the same price to rebuild my current D30 with bearings/seals/ujoints PLUS I want to get rid of the vac disconnect.
My questions are:
are all ABS D30s non-disco, or am I looking in a certain model year range?
do all ABS D30s have the larger Ujoints, and are the shafts larger as well?
can you just get the shafts out of an ABS D30 and stick them in my current housing(understanding that if the shafts are larger I'll need the bearings for the ABS D30)
Thanks
