do i need to be worried about my airbags going off when i'm offroading my xj?? i've also been told that aftermarket bumpers make them more sensitive...any truth to that?

NO - The air bag sensors are located in the interior,near the trans tunnel ,IIRC.They are not impact sensors but rate of deceloration(sp) sensor.
