SYE with out lift?

I bought a 231 TC w/SYE from another member. My XJ is currently at 3.5 in. I wanted to swap out the T-cases before I do the lift..going to 6in. The previous owner had 6 in. lift as well, my question is....will the driveshaft fit on my XJ with only 3.5 in. of lift even though it was made for 6 in.? I'll only be running it like this for about 3 weeks.

Possibly, you will have to try it to see. Just extend your bumpstops to where they would be with the larger lift. If you think about it. When you stuff the rear end, what is the difference between 0 lift or 6" lift.

I was thinking the same thing...but you never know...

Unless the shaft was built long to start with, you should be fine.
