700-R4 trans swap

I would like to swap in a 700-R4 trans behind the mighty 2.5...I know the trans from a mid 80's 2.8 S-10 will bolt up to my engine...Has anyone done this swap before?? I like the idea of the lower first gear and the overdrive. The serious question is what to do to fit the GM torque converter to the chrysler pattern flexplate...Im not worried about fitting a CPS since my truck is pre-TBI.
