does anybody know if ALL 1993 ZJs with the 4.0L came with the AW4?

Only the early production ones. Just look underneath and you can tell by the transmission pan, or get the vin and have your freindly dealer run the options list.

Just the first few months of production in 93..

Easily ID'd by the 1-2 lower position on shifter, the 42re does not have this.

thanks for the info guys. I really want a 97+ XJ with the AX-15 but they are extremely difficult to find in my area. I guess a ZJ with a bulletproof drive-train will have to do for now.

The 42RE isn't really "bad" - but I'd consider the AW4 to be better.

Also know that the ZJ w/6-242 can be found in the AX-15, 1993 through early 1994...
