Big 'amount of money to wheel twice a year' Hank ...... WF is worth it.

Ridiculously stoked over the arrival of new parts.

HANK

-Replace busted yukon shaft
-Repack wheel bearings
-Replace caster bushings
-Ditch piece of crap ballistic joints in favor of ruffstuff 1.25 heims
-Replace assist lines
-Frame stiffeners
-Maybe some sort of rocker protection, probably not...
-Rewire winch
-New muffler
-New amp so I can jam out
-and a blower resistor

Decide if I will bring the Jeep or not. If so:

Swap CVs for ujoint shafts.
Eyeball the alignment.
Check front end popping.
Check fluids.
Figure out idle problem.
Figure out if it's roadworthy enough to drive to Attica and back.

If not:

Put gas in the Avalanche.

Why would you shorten your control arms?...

Because I swapped in a dana 44 that someone had already fabbed and my cross member that I fabbed is already done. Instead of moving mounts, the easiest solution seems to shorten the arms. It is so far forward my panhard will cram into the diff and the steering won't even cross enough to meet my pitman arm.

Right now I have a Jeep I could load up and go; but that would be too easy. Ripping it apart for new suspension, 231-300 doubler, tons, seats & harness, and necessary cagework to make it all fit.

I have a 3/4 ton suburban, they are cheap, tow good and better than a tent to sleep in.

Big 'amount of money to wheel twice a year' Hank ...... WF is worth it.

Moving along ahead of schedule and using this forum as a scorecard. 2013 is the year of wheeling.

Big 'happy' Hank

I have no idea what I'll need to do before then. I have two XJ's right now that I could take, only one has no rear recovery point at all at the moment. After last weekend I now have a full size spare mounted and balanced for each Jeep. I'm really considering selling the 01 I just bought and just wheeling the 99 I have and just buying another stock XJ to daily instead of the 99. Oh yea, I picked up a "winter" first aid kid on Groupon a couple days ago so thats one less thing I need.
