I am trying to buy a welder now. I don't have a lot of money to spend, but that isn't a really big deal since I can probably find one used. My thing is that since I live in an apartment, I have a storage unit where I do most of the work on my jeep / jeep parts. So I would only be able to get a 110v.
I hope to be able to weld rock sliders, a roof basket, maybe plug weld some frame stiffeners myself.
Would I be able to just use a flux core welder and be good? Or should I find a 110v used that comes with a bottle?
There is a Millermatic 140 on craigslist here for 550 "barely used" That seems like a pretty good welder, since it is 30-140 amps, but right now it's set up for flux core only.
I guess I just need to know if 1) I will be able to do some good welding on 110v and 2) If I should bother with flux core or just hold out for a good deal on a GMAW 110v.
Then again, there is the option of getting one that is dual voltage. I just don't know. Any advice would be appreciated.
