Why did you pull the oil pan ?

Specifically, where is the noise coming from ?

Have you checked the Flex Plate bolts for proper torque ?

A loose timing chain doesn't make that type of noise. How is it you have determined the chain is loose ?

I gotta go with Tim on this. That is exactly the noise I had when I swapped the tranny on the MJ and I had not yet torqued the flex plate bolts. I'd suspect that or even a cracked plate. Not like a valve tick/knock
