SYE or Transfer Case Drop?

Isn't the front driveshaft thinner in diameter? I'd imagine it to be a weak link.

I dont really see that a problem as many have these in the rear for years without a problem.
 
Just do the SYE. It's not that difficult (figure 3-6 hours) and you don't even need to remove it from the vehicle. Just work underneath.

I have a 99, auto and the 8.25 rear end, 4.5 RE lift.

Vibes were terrible (NOTE: 'vibrations' manifest themselves as noise in the cabin, not actual vibration).

SYE/CV combo was literally just like flipping a switch, instantly quiet.

FWIW, I couldn't tell that the 1" TC drop did a damned thing as I tried this for a few weeks before I got the parts to install the SYE. My advice? don't waste the time and just do it right.
 
get the SYE you will thank yourself in the long run. I thought I didnt have driveline vibes with just my TC drop and 5.5 lift but after I got the SYE i really noticed how much i did.
