Should weld that to the tube as well to help strengthen it.

Good point Ramsey! I have that axle laying in the garage floor now getting ready for the new trail rig. I'll throw a bead on it before it goes in.

I welded some 1/4" flat stock onto mine(axle end). It works well but with my johnny jointed LCA's tend to hit the plates on full flex and sometimes will loosen the jamb nut up on the arms. No big deal I just tighten them up before I hit the road.

i planned on doing something real simple like this. i'd probably run a bead across the top though. if it's there, why not... one extra bead there will get you a lot more strength.
