im not sure you guys have had the luxury of being on unemployment...

Guess what that unemployment tax allows you to be on unemployment. It's not something you pay it's what your employer pays.


So yes I do see irony, I see it in your misplaced anger over a taxes that actually allowed you to have the "luxury of being on unemployment". Go you!

did you even read my last post? obviously you didnt. mindless posting to burn me isnt what i was after here. maybe some thought and opinions. im not looking to be rude towards anyone or have anyone be rude towards me. take a look at that list of taxes. you mean to tell me that one of those that is on there doesnt bother you. even if there are some on there that are not correct theres is one on there that you dont feel is appropriate. and just so you know your employer isnt the only one that gets taxed on your unemployment. you get taxed on it as well. oh and the luxury of being on unemployment was sarcasm. i would much rather be working. some taxes need to be in order and some need to not be at all. im sure you can agree with that.

im not sure you guys have had the luxury of being on unemployment... but yes you get taxed on it. you either check the little box to have federal deductions withheld or you get 1099ed on it at the end of the year. ask me how i know. if were talking about accuracy here then be accurate. im not here to get in a political war maybe just a little debate. social security: i think you are correct on. it doesnt get taxed. but we do pay taxes for it. im not sure if that counts or not. believe me i understand the imporatance of taxes to keep the country rolling but there has to be a line drawn somewhere. come on we even get taxed on stuff you win such as lottery, casino earnings, game show winnings, etc. im thankful that we have social security and unemployment and i understand that there are taxes to keep these in effect. but there are alot of chicken shit taxes as well.

I've been on unemployment since 9/26/2010. Yes, it is indeed taxed. However, the money that is withheld from your paycheck to go towards UI is taken out pretax. You are now receiving income that has yet to be taxed, so the gov't taxes it. It's the same as when you have pretax money put in your 401K and then you have to withdraw from your 401K before retirement. You get taxed on that money. I've done that one too.

so does that mean were getting taxed on it twice? ive have never had a 401k plan so i know nothing about that?

We're only being taxed once. The money we paid into UI came out pretax.
