run ok without speed sensor

Just to update the thread in case someone is ever in my boat. After two trips to store for resistors I ended up not needing them. I had been driving the jeep around my property the past few weeks after getting it running. But only at very low speeds and the speedo didn't appear to work. Today I got insurance and plate sticker and took it out on the street before I managed to wire in the resistor. The speedo starts working fine once I get up to about 15 mph and above. Good enough for me! Thanks again to Kastein for his help. Short shaft 300 really is no big deal to swap in, just a $25 stock part to get you going.

330 is way lower resistance than I'd go with, but if it didn't melt the sensor, it won't hurt anything else.

Glad you got it working!
