There's a joke here somewhere. I just can't seem to come up with it.. The whole XJ is totaled and all the glass broke, except the one that said "Dirt Poor Racing." ................

I got nothing......

that blows man! glad everyone is ok!

welcome to the club though!

Once the CHP is on scene, it's theirs I believe, especially if its already hooked to the tow truck's winch.

Glad you made it out alive! I'm guessing you guys were both belted up? i can't believe the airbad didn't go off, I set mine off by hitting a rut and jarring the steering wheel to the side. Looks like you sit back pretty far I'd bet that's one of the main reasons you both walked away.

That really stinks about the charge, but off road recovery is big dollars. You might want to make sure they don't charge you with illegal dumping. Did they cite you at all?

Will they let you go get your personal items out of it? If you find out what impound lot it went to sometimes they will let you go get your stuff out of the vehicle if you're nice about it.
Sorry to here that glad your OK. As far as the impound goes Yes as soon as CHP is on Scene it is there Discretion of what they do with it!!!!!! I have done several of recoveries much like this and it can get real expensive real quick!!!! Usually about $200.00 per hour min of 2 hrs and $40.00 per day storage. as far as personal property goes as long as you are the legal registered owner you can get your personals out of it with out a problem. (but your screwed if your not the owner unless the owner is present) some agencies may require a personal properly release usually at no cost.........GOOD LUCK

Glad you made it ok, welcome to the rolled my jeep club. Heres a pic of mine when she rolled, just a few dents. Before and after pics.:

As for how and where, I was across the street from little rock dam up here in palmdale at around 1:00am in the morning in october 2009. Was going great then I came to the top of the power lines and thought the trail went straight when....well not sure which way the trail went. I havent been up there since. The wife finally let me buy another jeep and slowly building her back up. Im always looking for other jeep people in the area, never bothered to look in the socal section. Now im all excited! yay!
