I realize that this is not the usual post for a newcomer, and apologize for the length and also to anyone who finds it inappropriate.
I am the original owner of 1990 Comanche Pioneer, 4WD, heavy ton, auto. This post concerns owners of Comanches, Cherokees, Grand Chreokees, Grand Wagoneers, and Wranglers.
Last year, around the end of December, I made an online purchase from an outfit doing business as Kenosha County Classics. Their online store is reached via teamcherokee.com or teamgrandwagoneer.com. They sell aftermarket and some OEM Jeep parts and accessories, as I'm sure many on this forum know.
I specifically am posting today to tell you about my experience with this company concerning the above mentioned order. I have contacted the Wisconsin Better Business Bureau with my complaint, as I told Kenosha County Classics I would if they continued to ignore my inquiries. I also told Kenosha County Classics that I would do everything in my power to spread the word to the various Comanche/Cherokee communities and tell these community members about the lack of customer service and poor business practices.
It was a simple purchase, not much money involved. I paid them $39.95 plus shipping for a door lock and key set, one that they advertised as follows,
"Door Lock Cylinder Set Jeep Cherokee & Comanche 1984-1990
This is an set of Original Door Lock Cylinders With The JEEP LOGO On The Heads Of The Keys.
These Lock Cylinders Will Work For All Jeep Cherokee, Jeep Wagoneers & Comanches from 1984-1990.
These Locks Come with the Rubber Seals that Goes Between the Lock & The Door.
THESE COME CODED WITH KEYS & READY TO INSTALL!"
I have purchased cheap Chinese knock-offs of these locksets in the past, and they only lasted a couple of years, so I jumped at the chance to get a pair of "original door lock cylinders," or one that would at least be of OEM quality that would undoubtably serve me much longer.
This lockset arrived in the mail on Friday evening, January 3. The components are cheap, Chinese made reproductions, just like I am trying to replace. The keys are rectangular, not oval as shown in the picture, and only one of the keys is cut. You have to have the blank cut at your own expense if you want a second key. The company states on their website that they offer a 60 satisfaction guarantee, so on Monday, Jan 6, I sent an email, explaining my dissatisfaction with the quality of the product, and requested an RMA number for return of the item at my expense. They replied on Jan 8 with an RMA number, and link to a form that i was to fill out and incude with the return. I did so and returned it to them on Jan 13.
On Jan 28, I sent an email, that stated simply, "Good morning,
I am inquiring as to the status of my refund for the return of this item (a lock and key set, order number ____) which I returned to you two weeks ago yesterday. Thanks"
I got no response, nor did I get any response on four follow-up emails. They will not answer their phone or return my phone call when i leave a message. They have never answered my emails, they have not refunded my money. I find that there are several complaints over the past three years of people who have had the same issues with this retailer. They simply refuse to honor their refund policy, and ignore any attempts to contact them. I told Kenosha County Classics that I would tell every Jeep forum I could find about their attitude if they failed to at least afford the courtesy of a response. I've done that here.
Decide for yourself whether you ever want to do business with this company.

Thank you for your heads-up!

I've purchased a lot of stuff over the years from TeamCherokee with good quality and service, but nothing lately.

I had noticed that their site and selection had deteriorated but didn't know they had been sold. Looks like the end of a good parts source.

Their site used to not stink, too.

I stopped recommending them a few years ago... I mostly buy from Crown Auto or on rockauto.com now if I can't find something in good shape at the junkyard or just want new.

i to have purchased over the years from them, sad to see.

i also now mainly use rock auto or Morris 4x4, who i have found to be very helpful, especially important for me living in Australia.

I went through the same exact thing with Mean Green, over a brand new starter. Had to send American Express after them to get my refund.
Terrible customer service.

I purchased some replacement hub unit bolts from them because they're hard to find away from the dealer and they had a good price. It took several weeks to get them with little communication that they would run that late.

I also stripped out a set of nuts when attaching my rear axle u-bolts. They were very shoddy quality metal. I took them to Napa and showed them what happened (from a parts guy that has been very helpful in the past and usually down sells me if the quality is better at a cheaper price point), and he said who the heck did you buy them from?

I would not order from again. There is too high of a chance of waiting on a part forever or possibly having it arrive with crappy quality.

From TeamCherokee.com I paid for and ordered a "CLEARENCE" item, being a headlight conversion kit. I paid about $30.00. Amazing price, right? After a few weeks, they called and said they had oversold and did not have them. But that they were getting more in, just not at what I had paid, but at the normal 100.00 price. Hmmm, what companies re-stocks a closeout???
Yes, it was the famous Bait and Switch. Rather and get all messy with reporting them, I accepted a prompt refund.

Team Cherokee <-- Stay Away From!

Sorry to hear about his man. Thanks for the heads up.

Team Cherokee gave me a HORRIFIC run around. I bought a "premium oem" header panel and front fender, shipped direct to my body shop. We unboxed them, held them up to the XJ and they were Horribly made Chinese knockoffs that came "pre-dented" as well. The front fender was actually like 3/4" too long! No biggy, send them back right?

In the 3 months following I spoke to numerous people at Team Cherokee who wasted my time and were not so professional. Finally, got the stuff sent back and credit.

Anyway, I won't do that again! Shame too because they had some hard to find stuff.

Bad experience at Team Cherokee, with a part, and with customer service.., and wonder how they will ever redeem their business model, which just plain sucks. They seem to be not very good at what they do. Part = C-, Service = D. I do not see a way for them to recover a good business model at this point in time. Just shameful! The negativity in their management style is an evil sickness. If you know how to pray for them.., ah.., er.., just a suggestion. Even then, burnt once...

Seems that the link you went to, the K.C. place, is just an extension of a group that has similar low business practices.

If I was within a hundred miles of a junk yard where I could find a XJ, I'd remove the locks, and pay a lock smith to make the keys.., all in order to avoid wasting money on slave labor red army managed chinese crapola.
