Does anybody know if a snorkel off of a yj will work on an xj? I can get a good deal on one for a yj but don't know if it will work for an xj.

Most of the snorkels I have seen mount on the lower passenger side of wrangler models, and the snorkel for an XJ mounts on the upper driver side fender. Unless you have a diesel XJ or you swap where your intake box is I don't believe this will work. But if you are just looking for a cheap snorkel, just build one out of PVC. otherwise I will look for where I got mine, I think I paid about 200 for it.
