The Jeep: 1994 XJ, 4.0L, on it's 3rd motor, 5 spd. We put the latest motor in last fall October. It ran great for about a month then the battery died. Put a new battery in and the ground strap at the back of the motor got hot and melted a couple vacuum and breather lines, but no wires as far as I can tell. It also blew a 60A fuse in the under hood fuse box. It has been sitting since.
We finally got around to working on it today.
The Symptoms: Cranks but no start, that ground strap still gets a little warm only while cranking. No power to the coil, no power to the fuel pump. Checked all fuses and replaced the fuel pump relay and the auto shut down relay, same problem.
Here's the wierd one, the aux fan runs all the time that the key is on unles you pull it's relay.
I jumped power to the fuel pump and coil, still crank but no start.
Anybody have any ideas?
TIA
