I've been working on building my front bumper for the last few weeks. Here are some pictures of the build

im too lazy to click on each of those links. how about posting the pics up?

Nice, looks beefy.

So what's with those D-rings that won't hold for pulling a bicycle out of the ditch.

What ever lol!
I suppose if you were to get a running start with another rig you could rip them loose, or bend them.
I've put them on every bumper I've ever built and they work fine. I've never bent or broken one, though I'm sure it happens.

whats the stinger for? i dont see lights or a winch, just a GIANT unbraced stinger..
is it HREW, or are you using a harbor freight bender? (aka tha kinker)

Nice work..

If it were mine (witch it is not) the things i would change would be..
A: take about 8" out of the stinger
B: Shackle points
C: Lower the winch spot about another inch

Looks like it came out really well tho!

I've seen 2 versions of those at places like Tractor Supply. They're rated at 5000 and 10,000Lb.

ive allways wondered how people built those 'faceted' style bumpers, regardless of my critisizms, thanks for posting the pics, allways nice to see new fabwork.

The stinger bar is to help protect the front end from all those pesky deer and elk that plague our roads. As for the winch. I haven't added it yet. There is other work to be done that's more important.
The tubing is role cage material. I had it bent at a local fab shop. No harbor freight sh** in my shop! Yours???
There's no light tabs because I don't know where I want to mount them yet.

I personally like the stinger height. That opinion might change after driving it though.
I agree with the plate height.
I also agree with the shackle points. Their not exactly what wanted. I decided I'm going to cut in and add a 2" reciever in to the center section under the winch plate. That way I can use a reciever mounted clevice. I'll mount in flush to the bumper. When I'm not wheeling, I'll cover it with the liscense plate.
It came out ok though. Not bad for no drawings, pictures, templates or anything. I had a picture in my mind and started cutting metal.
I would make minor changes if I were to do it again.

People are upposed to most things that are different... The bumper is not even close to what I would build but it looks like good work. D-rings could be a problem. Everybody has different taste and thats cool. Keep it up!

Roughly how much plate steel did you use?
How thick was it?
I like it with or without the stinger.
Personally I think the stinger sets it off.
Good Job

I'm no expert but I would think those ratings have to do with the strength of the metal rings. It's still only going to be as strong and safe as it's weakest point, which may or may not be how it is attached to the bumper.

Any way around, I think they're adequate for pulling on.

And I would agree, the weak point is going to be the weld attachment.
