Motor mount replacement....

While I agree that the M.O.R.E. or BrownDog would be better (happy with the MORE) if money is an issue it's an issue. www.partstrain.com has several brands of stock mounts: Westar (?) and OMIX which is an OEM replacement. After navigating to the page with the mounts for a 87 Cherokee you'll see a couple of OMIX mounts listed at 181.00 - That must be a mistake. If you scroll down to about the middle you'll find them for $14.58 which is more like it.

Also a great time to replace o-rings in adapter.

Before I knew anything (still don't)
My motor mounts are what initiated a whole exhaust system replacement.
Bad mounts, cracked ex. manifold, O2 reads lean, engine enrichens, burninng out cat. Then front yoke impacting header.:tears: Weeee that's fun.
MORE's helped a lot with clearence issues there.
Ultmately control arm bushings were final fix for header clearence

Alredy replaced rad. and clutch, between the two I'd rather have been munched rad (less $$ easier to replace) just glad it wasn't: D. All of the above

poorboy_616 If money is a problem.
I'll give you my used mounts for free. (not my MORE's
original.aspx
)
You pay shipping.

Not very old, had to solve header issue

My question as to how your rigs were used was to see just .... that.
If you don't use it under extreme conditions you might not need the higher end products.
Kinda like ..... you don't need mud gripper tires if you never leave the paved roads kinda thing,.... was my thinking here.

I understand the reasoning behind using the better "more expensive" mount(s).

Using anything that's "cheaper" doesn't always mean that it's inferior....and surely does'nt mean one "can't" afford it (some of the time).

I thank you for the offer of the mounts, but I have other vehicles that need repairs first, so it may be a whiel before I can get to the Jeep parts needs.....

If I wasn't wrenching on the wifes Minivan, I would have the moolah for the MORE's....

Damn wife and her lead foot......

If they make them for a 1994 CHrysler Town and Country Minivan with the bad-ass 3.8L V6, I'll take em!!

No right now I changing out the drive axles....They have been on the punch list for a few months.....

Okay, how about rent by the post....

Post padding is double the going rate..... :laugh2:
WoW post padder you're at 7.33 posts per day!
To my 0.79 per day hmmm...

By next month you'll have more posts in less than two months than I've accrued in two years!! Yet I'm on here daily.

Pot calling the kettle black??

98% of my time on the site is searching through padding to find a few key bits of info.

Yes, I have searched, but want a clear and definate answer without sifting thru hours of :bs:
Welcome to the club. I usually spend two days searching if I have time before I post a question.

How much of a pain are they to change?
Couple hours, use jack with wood to protect oil pan, replace oil filter adapter o-rings while it's off.

The passenger side looks to be easy, but the driver could be a pain....
Driver side may be a bit easier since 3 nutz hold airbox in, none of it is bad unless through bolt has siezed.

As of now, only the passenger mounts has torn rubber, but I know the driver side may not be far behind.....
Your driver side must be really bad as this is the side that sees up lift during acceleration. iirc Driver side is the first to go on all the XJ's I've seen.

The trans mount is about a year old acording to the paper I got with the Jeep....
Probably fine. You have the good ol 10 Slot RENIX? Probably BA10/5 or AW4. BA10/5 if you have slop in the mount you can stuff something under mount to stiffen things up. Backyard adjustability.

Mounts on punch list for few months? Hopefully not daily driver, or start planning on more expensive parts replacement real soon. Doesn't take long to get the trickle down effect really flowing.

When do you plan on repairing?

Just wait a few months, once all is going well, I won't be padding....As much :laugh3:

I agree

I do too, but sometimes I need an answer FAST, BEFORE my daughter gets home from school....

Yeah, it's RENIX, as for the ten slot? I have no clue what that is (keep in mind I am still learning about RENIX and it's shortfalls). I think I officially managed to kill the drivers side mount yesterday. Under load I can feel the engine lift ever so slightly....Don't worry, they should be done here within the month....(need my stimulus check). If I drive anywhere, I will be extra careful..... And, yes it WAS the Pukegoat, now it's an AW4. There is NO slop in the trans mount.

I already replaced the front mount as it was toast. The two side mounts are suprisingly okay. I also did the axles too, as they have seen 200,000 MIles and are DOA....(also due to front mount.....)
