***MORE PICS*** '91 Comanche project $2600

Time to turn this one loose......

'91 H.O. 5 speed, 231 non A/C truck 180K miles on the engine.

***THIS IS A PROJECT, NOT A READY TO DAILY DRIVE TRUCK***

The good:

Rust free body..... truely. Stupid nice floors and unibody.
Excellent running 4.0
AX15 with external slave from an '06 TJ
Late model 231
Novak t-case shifter
Very nice maroon bucket seat interior (needs headliner fabric, the backer board is there.)
Good stereo (needs installed into the dash.)
'98 XJ front clip - hood, fenders, header panel.
NEW brass 2-row radiator
NEW water pump and t-stat
NEW battery
Brake upgrade - '95 double diaphragm booster and master cylinder with an XJ proportioning valve (does away with the load level brake valve system) Stops GREAT!
New rear drive shaft with new u-joints
New front drive shaft u-joint
'95 D30 and 8.25 with 3:55 gears. Rear axle has flipped spring seats and custom shock mounts.
Rubicon Express 1600 track bar
Rubicon Express monotube front shocks
Rusty's 4.5 front coils
Custom fixed upper control arms with flex joints, custom adjustable lower control arms with flex joints and OEM rubber bushings.
JKS sway bar disconnects
Hell Creek 4.5" rear leaf packs and 2" shackles
Pre-runner bumper
Late model catalytic converter and "shorty" exhaust through the bed side.
Napier fender flares
6 Ravine wheels
Good tail gate and tail lights

What it needs:

Windshield
Alignment (front steering components are stock but in good condition)
Tires (Has 4 matching BFG AT's but front two are thin and alignment worn. Rears have good tread but all 4 are cracking)
Wheels/tires are not balanced - just mounted them up for rollers.
Right rear flare is broken/cracked
Novak shifter is from a TJ/YJ and not bent/contoured for an XJ, will need to be heated and bent.
Install stereo
E-brake has been modified to accept the XJ axle cables, but further mods needed to make it properly adjustable. It works, but doesn't hold tight enough.
License plate mounts
Rear diff cover gasket needs replaced (leaking)

Issues:

The bed is BEAT. If you're gonna 'wheel it hard, then this isn't much of a concern. But it's NOT worth fixing.
Driver's door is dented
Rear slider window leaks (most do....)
Needs some crank case ventilation improvements - has blow by, but not due to engine wear. May have a plugged port or hose.....
P/S hose leaks
Minor vibes from the rear drive shaft - needs an SYE, but the vibes aren't all that bad as is.
Rear shackles are too long for the current lift

So, with all that said, it's a great, solid, and rare project truck. It runs and drives but will need work to be used on the road. The current exhaust set up is not likely to make the Colorado Air Care folks happy.... I have an extension pipe for it in case that will make them happy. No idea if it'll pass emissions, but it runs good and really shouldn't have a problem.

You'll be hard pressed to find a '91 in general, there were just a little over 5,100 TOTAL Comanche's made for '91 as they were being phased out. Floor and rocker rust is a common problem, but not on this one.

I'm asking $2600. All reasonable offers considered. Not really looking to trade for anything......

Interior is done.....done as its gonna get anyway. I went ahead and bent the Novak shifter and installed a boot. The drivers floor has brown primer that a previous owner sprayed over minor surface rust.

Tires, alignment, rear diff gasket & fluid. Then yeah I think it'd cruise right on down the road nicely.
