Moab Prep: Whats done/Whats left

My list went from this-

Replace the AC condenser and charge the AC

Remove, repair, and re-install the front D44 ARB

Re-engineer the front RE drop bracket/control arm suspension into a mid-arm 3-link.

Remove Tomken rock rails, cut out rockers and weld rails in place, incorporating new front leaf spring mounts for longer leafs.

New 35" tires, or maybe open another can of worms and go 37s...

Give the trailer a once-over.

To this-

Install the CB in the wife's jeep and drive to Moab

Change upper pass. side ball joint.
Change X-fer case fluid.
Pack.

JIM.

well since i'm selling the XJ this weekend, and the new ZJ isnt gonna wheel, i need to get the 5.0L powered CJ5 done or i'm stuck riding beotch in my buddy's JK...

whats left...
1. remove and fully weld the cage i built last week.
2. run new full-length dual exhaust inside the frame, must work in conjunction with #3
3. built new front driveshaft that works with #2..
4. go back to stock mechanical linkage since my "great idea" hydraulic master just didnt work out as planned.
5. rebuild the dirty old Carter AFB in hopes of maximizing the fuel economy.
6. wire the damn secondaries shut to help with #5.
7. figure out how the hell i'm gonna carry a spare tire.
8. install the twin-sticks on the D300.
9. wish for some sort of divine intervention to create super-short overdrive trany that is 16" long and will fit into my 81" wheel-base, so i dont have to deal with the 4 speed trany i'm stuck with.

all that has to be funded around the dreaded "back to school" shopping thats looming... (maybe i should just buy back my old white XJ i drove west 2 years ago.. )

wtf am i thinking???

I have no 4th gear/OD so that is my problem:

1. Rebuild NSS and hope to hell that fixes the problem
2. Purchase new range sensor if #1 does not fix problem ($350 :()
3. Find trailer to tow jeep down if that doesn't work
4. New front speakers so I can rock out to GNFNR on the trail.
5. Gruelling 4-hour drive to get there:).

Hey, Dave, I might still have one of those kicking around. I could bring it up to the geostash this weekend if you want it.

  1. Book my flight ticket
  2. Travel from London to San Fran
  3. Drive Jeep from San Fran to Moab
  4. Fix boot on front prop shaft
  5. Replace bent tie rod

Just pulled it apart and cleaned everything up last night. I need to get it out on the freeway to see if that did the trick. I will still take you up on the switch just in case it doesn't work. If we don't hook up for a local run in September, maybe I can grab it from you in Moab in October. Thanks.
