low budget build lift suggestions?

yea thats the problem i dont have any funds now from the lack of a job, i want to go bigger but i need to get all the costs added up to see how big of a dent its gonna put in my pocket

just watch on here and craigslist for good deals save your money and wait for a good offer. i happened to come across a track bar/LCA/coil combo for 100 bucks. and went to the jy and picked up my dakota leafs for 35 on half priced weekend.

i'd say the cheapest lift you could have is a trim job =) trimming the fenders will show the biggest tire/fender gap IMO

for instance here's the same lift only difference is the trim job
this is a 4" lift w/o trim and 235/75/15's

same lift a few days later with a nice trim job.

good advise! i remember when i trimmed after having the 33's on with the 5" lift i could of tossed 35's or 36's on there i had so much extra room!

i realise bigger doesnt always mean better but i want it to be a little bit more capable and my next step is to make quick disconects and trim up the fenders

And at the other end of the scale, that's 30" tires, no lift, sway bars both still connected,....
Photo was taken just passed Loon Lake, headed to Rubicon springs.

the best thing you can do for capability is a traction aiding devise locker or limited slip differential and under body protection!

trimming up the fenders would be my first choice. and at a 2" lift you can make things simple by doing this mod

thanks maxxXJ tht second lnk is really helpful and me and one of my buddies were plannin on makin some of those disconnects

also wat would be better for about 3.5-4 in of lift and flexible s10 leafs or dakota leafs? and wat years

IMO I would ditch the rear blocks, add the s10 leaves & the 30's. Its not worth buying a bigger lift to run those tires, becasue you can run that on stock height. You can get any 2.5" wide leaf spring, s10, dakota , etc. any year. I would use the main leafs first, the lower leafs tend to have alot of arch too them and can be difficult to add to the cherokee leaf pack which is alot flatter. I've done a dozen combos of s10 leafs so when you decide what to do I can give you a opinion on how to do it.

You could also do an XJ/XJ bastard pack for the rear. My brother had two broken springs so we got some "new" packs from the JY and cut the eyes off the main springs and added all of the leafs to the pack (minus the broken springs) he netted a solid 2.5 inches. IIRC, the S-10 leafs can give you about 3-4 inches (or less depending on how many springs you use).

heres a leaf spring chart

i have 88 dakotas and those mfers are stiff lol but i did net 4" lift and i can be fully loaded fulla camp gear and not sag. my xj runs the trails really well with dakota leafs, i'll be able to better tell you how they do once i get away from my stock shackles

man i just need to give you my favorites list... i got prolly most of the links you could ever need =)

and i actually had an idea on how to make one of those trailor hitch tire carriers
i was thinkin you u could get a bike carrier that mounts in the hitch and remove some of th parts to make it capable of holding your spare while still being able to open the liftgate

could go the route i went. its very sturdy

drilled 3 holes into hitch and plate

also used the bottom 2 bolt mounts that bolt to the bumper. you can see how i braced the bottom bar so it's pretty sturdy.
