ISO 97-00 manual 4x4 XJ

Looking to expand my jeep family, nothing too expensive. Preferably no rust but some surface rust won't scare me away. Looking for a 1997-2000 XJ manual transmission with 4x4. Not looking for a big project, would prefer it to have not too many problems.

Also, I'm willing to travel to Georgia/South Carolina/Tennessee/Florida/North Carolina to see the XJ. Naturally, I'd have to see sufficient pictures before I decide to do a 6+ hour drive. I live on the border of Georgia and South Carolina, so I would prefer places around there, but I'm more than willing to make a road trip for a nice one. If possible I'd like to keep the price around $3,000. I don't mind some issues as long as the mileage isn't too unreasonable (i.e. I'm not giving you $3k for your 290k vehicle), but I'm not shy of 200k-ish miles either.

Good Luck. The 97 - 00 manual xj's were rare. All the ones I have seen in SC were all 2 doors. Post up when you get it!

Well we actually already have a manual 97 xj, we're just looking to get one for my wife now. To be honest a two door would be awesome as we already have a four door, but either or would be nice.

Gunna be tough to find in that price range but I'll keep my eyes open.

I'm seeing decent auto XJ's for for 5k and manual XJ's go for more than that.

I have exactly what you want but it'd take a lot to get it from me. lol

We bought the one we own now for three grand with only 186k miles on it. Sure it needed work but nothing I couldn't fix. We aren't expecting something pristine because, as you stated, it would cost us a lot more than what we're looking to spend.

We're looking for a clean automatic 97-01. Stock. I'm only about 45 minutes North of you so if you see anything like that around down there let me know.

I'm from Aiken originally and live over near Florence. If you need someone to put eyes on something over here let me know.

There's a few decent automatics in North Carolina right now. Due to the lack of manuals we might have to settle for one. Check the listings on the North Carolina Facebook market and there's quite a few right now. Good luck!

After about a month of searching, we finally settled on an XJ. It's a 98, 2 door, 4.0 5 speed with only 155k on the clock. It has a 6 long arm lift, bilsteins, 35s and is amazing! Scored it for $3,200. No rust, but the interior...well, there no interior haha, but that's minor for a trail pig. We're officially doing the deal tomorrow and I'll post some pics when we do.

That's a shame. I had every interior part you could have possibly needed but I scrapped the body because no one wanted it.

I do have plenty of 4 door interiors if you want to come up and grab some stuff.

I have recently come to the conclusion that I just need to hold on to stuff eventually someone finds me that needs it.....

You have any center consoles for a 97+ with the 5 speed? That should fit both 2 and 4 doors so, I'll definitely be paying you a visit haha, either that or to the junkyard I'll go.
