Redcbr007 knows some people that set up gears for real cheap, so I got a hookup. New gears are fairly cheap it normally the labor of install, but I think I can get it done fairly cheap. I didn't know there was a 2.5L XJ, I'm sure I can get used 4.11 geared axles from one of those for almost if not free. Actually that seems like a plan, that would be way cheaper than new gears.Thanks.

The Comanche uses a plate to mount the shocks and that plate can be transferred over to the new axle.

The D35 tubes are 2.5" , and the 8.8 are 3.25"
Unless the plate has enough adjustment, you'll have to either fab up a new plate, or use the one from the Explorer which IIRC also has the shock mount

You will need to weld on new leaf mounts no matter if you are going SOA or keeping it SUA.

Very easy to do, and well worth the effort. Cheapest way to 5-6" in the rear.
