Hey guys, The name is Caleb, Im from Cheshire, CT. My twin sister is moving cross country by herself with no family and not a lot of friends. She is moving to Twain Harte/ Sonora California. Can anyone tell me what its like there? She will be working at a ski resort I think 45 mins away driving her 95 Honda Accord. She will also be trying to get a job at a CVS in Senora. So yeah, can ya guys just let me know what its liek out there, anything she/ I should be concerned with?
Thanks again guys
Caleb Spillane

I think she will be working at Dodge Ridge Ski resort.

i have a buddy that lives in twain harte area.
i think its cool out there, it seems to be a nice little mountain town without much to do.
we go camping near the clavey river up past long barn up there every summer, its a cool area. yah dodge ridge is over there, not too far. its grown alot up there compared to what it used to be 15 years ago.

it does get snow out there, chains will be good, or a 4x4.

Twain Hart is a tiny little mountian town that is absoutly beautiful in the winter but not somewhere I would like to live without 4wd. It wouldn't be bad most of the time but after a storm it might take a while for the roads to get plowed. Almost all the homes are back in twisty little roads with no streetlights. And most are cabins that are only used for vacationing. And the bridge that leads out of town and in the direction of Dodge Ridge loves to ice up. They do have probably three resteraunts and a grocery store.

Sonora is much bigger and there will be alot more places to find jobs. They have a few nice sized shopping centers and Black Oak Casino is in Sonora and if she worked there she would get some nice tips. Also her drive to Dodge would be almost completly on the highway so she probably wouldn't have to chain up till Dodge Ridge Road, only a couple of miles from Dodge. It also doesn't snow as much in Sonora as it does in TwainHart.

A must go to in Sonora is a gas station called The Outpost, they have burgers inside and make thier own homemade buns....mmm...good.

dude there are a ton of cheap Xjs in the sacto craigslist.
there is a 5" lifted 86 4 cyl with 32s for 1200$ obo on the sac Cl right now.
search cherokee min 1200 max 1220, unless he dropped the price i think its still there.
it wont pass smog but he says it runs good, but maybe we could help her get it to smog?

I wouldn't wish a carb'd XJ on my worst enemy let alone a young lady living by herself in a small mountain town.

Yeah. Something stock with some nice tires would be better for a female. You can find nice ones for 2500 that will be pretty darn reliable.

Yeah I was trying to find something stock with some good a/ts or snows. but her honda is being shipped tomorrow. she has front snows and chains so hopefully she will be good. If you are up at Dodge Ridge ski resort and you see a Accord with CT plates and a SISoffroad sticker its hers.

i wish you knew more about XJs. the 4 cylinders where throttle body injected starting in 85, look it up.
i agree with the statement though, i wouldnt wish a carbed XJ on anyone.
i was just saying its a reasonable deal for something in the snow.
