Homemade Rear Mount Turbo setup SRT-6

After all the research ive been doing on building this setup, I can't believe I have never seen this part of the forum before.. I have a build thread on cherokee forum here is the link for that if any one is interested:

Any ways I have been working on this project for a little while and have finally gotten it to the point where it can be driven as a daily driving somewhat reliable vehicle that is suprisingly fast to unsuspecting ricers and diesel truck boys that are in my area lol.

Some info on the setup,1998 cherokee 2dr 5speed 2wd 4.0, 180,000 mile stock unopened motor. Its a Rear mount ebay t/3t4 T04e that has an intercooler mounted under the jeep, that is currently running 10psi in 3rd and 4th gear. I believe it is time to wrap the exhaust to try and get more low end boost. Running 39lb Mustang Cobra injectors, tuning the fuel with a SAFC-2 and so far so good with that tuning setup, only issue is that timing is able to adjusted with that module. Boost comes in full beans at 2300rpms, dips down to 6-7psi until about 3800rpm then climbs back up to the spring set 10psi. Everything I have done has been a "bolt on" procedure with the only kind of fabbing I had to do was go to an exhaust shop to have the turbo flange welded on to the exhaust. Which I think is cool because it can be returned to stock in 30minutes or less. Total build cost so far has been $750 for the whole turbo setup. Without a doubt a 50-90hp gain with who knows how much more torque, will be getting dynoed soon to show the true power gains going off of a 135whp baseline.

A little update for the other fellow street jeepers, the stock 8.25 rear end did not like the 3500rpm launch with boost and ripped the pinion shaft to pieces... it now has another 8.25 with 3.55 gears instead of 3.07 to maybe get wheel spin instead of a blown rear end lol, before the break I did manage to get a sweet launch against a 2006 Dodge caliber srt4 with a tune and open exhuast and held him off until 110mph which is way past the 1/4 mile so that is fine with me. I'm sorry if this is the wrong spot for this, Just move it wherever it is needed to go if it is in the wrong section, I will be doing suspension next although I am not sure how much lower I will be able to go due to my turbo..
Thanks to all that are interested.

Wait, your turbo is seriously hanging off the middle of your Jeep? *facepalm*

The reason guys run rear mounted turbos is so they don't have to run an inter cooler. The length of the charge pipe should be enough to decrease IATs.

While pretty awesome, poorly executed IMO.

Exactly the reaction I am going for lol, but to be honest it works flawlessly just enough room to clear speed bumps by a good margin, and living in Florida roads are pretty flat. I have a filter on it now for when the rain comes, and the jeep doesn't go off road any more. Hopefully getting dynoed soon, just waiting on the shop to install their new dyno.

And at Wot my afrs are at a steady 11.5-12. In the video I think your referring to of it on the overpass that was before I tuned (stock injectors) it and even when it was lean it was not making any boost, when it was wot afr went into a safe 11-12 range.

A little update on the Xj, managed to get a video of it doing a launch. Got up to about 100mph with this pull and around a 1/4mile distance. I would say comparing it to my z28 6speed that I ran a 13.8 @103 in the 1/4. The jeep is probably close to a 14.5 @9x.x mph. My base line run I made when it was stock was a 10.3 @68 mph in the 1/8th mile. I will be returning to the same 1/8th mile track again to see the difference is now, shooting for low 9's but we will see.

Thanks to all who are interested,
Tony
