'88 Exhaust Manifold Replacement with EGR Delete

I recently purchased a 1988 XJ pioneer with 300k miles. It runs great and has been very well maintained.

My only current issue is a pretty bad exhaust manifold leak, which producing a loud ticking and is leaving a little bit of soot on components under the hood.
Before I purchased it and EGR delete was done for performance reasons I believe.
My question is; can I replace the exhaust manifold with a 91-99 manifold given that there is no EGR port on it? It is my understanding that this is the only difference.
Thanks!
