But I'm not worried enough about it to not run the set up. In this application if it's going to fail it would be on the trail rather than the highway.

I ran a front shaft in the back for quite some time, I know several people doing the same. They are cheap enough to keep a few spares around and just junk when they get wore out or break. I've seen them run with 1 tons and +40" tires and deep gearing without fail. YMMV of course
Cal is just a complainer. front shaft in the rear works fine. .120 wall is plenty. slip spline is small, but if you're breaking that you're gonna need more than 1310 joints soon anyways...
(says the guy running 39.5 tsl's and a 35 spline 60 on a cut down retubed front shaft in the rear)
