High CO

I hate it when reading a series of posts you come across no conclusion. So, not to put myself in that boat, i thought i'd post up my findings to those that so kindly helped me along a few months back.

I really wanted to discover the origins of my renix or 'frankenjeep' :looney: as Ecomike so kindly put it

Head casting number by years
It is easy to determine what head you have. On the driver’s side, about halfway down the cylinder head between #3 & #4 fuel injector but below the valve cover clean the lip of the head with a rag or solvent if really greasy. With a good light, you can read the casting number of the head.

Head casting number by years
Casting numbers are as follows:
Year............Casting No
1987-90......2686
1991-95......7120
1996-99......0630
2000-01......0331
Well my head number is 0630, so puts it between 1996-99 according to the above

Whereas my block is 53010841 putting it at the 1999 mark - as detailed below -

Block Casting Numbers (borrowed from CJ7-Tim, from Jeepforum)
Year............Casting No
1987-90......53005535 (8933002665)
1991-95......53008405
1996-98......53020569
1999-04......53010449

So my educated guess is it's a '99 engine with Renix manifolds & electronics.:piratefla

A 99 Renix in London, LOL!!!!

She also 'eventually' passed her smog. The garage spent quite a bit of time on it, they even popped in some magic snakeoil from these guys, http://www.forteuk.co.uk/ that seemed to do the trick???

Can't comment whether it is as good as seafoam or bg44k, the jury is still out. My mileage around town hits 10-12mpg, whilst away on holiday, she returned 22-24mpg - most of it cruising around 55-60mph

I really would like to get better mileage putting around town, but may end up just using her for the long hauls...
