Half Door Question

Looking for them now, but mine look likes SHORTY's..I got the ideal for him when he posted his up..My grandson was helping me look for other stuff when he found this pic of shorty's..Found some.Still need to do the body work and paint, but they open an close..

first time I've seen them-- very nice! If I was to do another set, I'd keep a little more meat around the mirror as you did-- I see your shoulder hits at the door handle, though. That's one thing I wanted to avoid:roll:

this was after "rounding" of the curves and some molding:

The handles are about a 1" in from the opening now..I had to add some back on the door..I made sure they would not hit me or the kids..Grandma would kill me..LOL..I looked at your's before i laid out my lines to cut, then i saw the mirror's..So i changed the lines by a couple of inch's..Thank you for posting your pic's..

Why doesn't anyone remove the upper section of the door when they do this mod? Do you loose strength in the door? I was looking at my inner door surround and with the door open it doesn't look bad in this area. Just curious because like many others I am looking into this mod.

I looked into the tube doors but you cant get the lines to look right.(in my opinion)

For my beater, I just cut out the inside, and rolled the ouside over and riveted it to the inside. I know it can be done a lot cleaner but this took a few hours with a hammer, cut-off wheel, and a rivet gun and they have been good for years.
