We'll plan on dinner around 6:30 Sat evening. No charge, dinner is sponsored by G&G Off Road.
This is a club run, no fee, no permit, no real organization. Please ask someone if you have questions, if you stand around waiting for announcements or someone leading you, you won't find out what to do. Trail leaders will park out on the lake bed near camp on Sat morning, but you need to go up and ask them what trail they are going to run and ask about the difficulty and recommended equipment for that trail. That info will not be available if you don't ask someone about it. No one will go around telling folks when the groups will head for the trails, when you see the other vehicles gathering you need to get your stuff together and get out there. Vehicles will begin lining up for trails around 8:00 am.
I know it can be a benefit to be more organized, but then we need to have fees and permits, and the permitting process right now with the BLM is difficult at best. So everyone use their heads, pay attention to what's going on, and be safe.
Here are some basic directions to JV. We will camp on Means Dry Lake, which is on Boone Rd about 4 miles north of Hwy 247. Boone Rd is about 22 miles west of Yucca Valley or 22 miles east of Lucerne Valley on Hwy 247/Old Woman Springs Rd. There is a BLM sign for Boone Rd and OHV Trails at Boone Rd on Hwy 247, turn north which is the only way it goes and follow the dirt road to camp. When you get to the lake bed drive slowly until you are very familiar with area so you don't unexpectedly hit a bomb crater. Others have and it can be ugly.
See you there,
