Hey neighbor:wave1: I was at work all day so i didn't get to play:tears:

:wave1:

Definitely gotta get together with some people around here. I bought my XJ when I lived in Vegas...out there you can hop a curb and go busting ass through the desert and nobody cares. Drove it 2800 miles across the country when I moved back here.

Here, that obviously isn't the case...I wasn't into off roading when I lived here, but got into it pretty heavily due to my neighbors there being professional rock crawlers (www.johnson4x4.com) Frank and Nicole got me into this stuff...had great times getting her rig ready for KOH.

My XJ isn't ready to do anything real stupid yet, long arms then a new rear end with a 4 link setup on fox shocks.

All in due time though :)

Lets do some wheelin!

Here are two local forums to check out;

A mixed bag of crawlers and mudders, but good guys;

This club maintains Potts Mountain in Craig County, where I wheel mostly;

If you want to get serious about crawling your rig, Crozet is just 2 hours up the road near Charlotesville;

Definitely will have to get together. Serious welding has to go on my rig before I go do anything stupid though. My buddy from college is looking at picking up an XJ as well..his will be more of a driver.

I've tucked 35's onto mine with no lift (possibly an inch at most)..gotta do some more trimming and what not on the fenders before I get to really beat on it again. It's what I had planned on doing it with in Vegas as crawling out there is big and lift is not your friend. I have the brackets and stuff thought out as I am going to do 1" thick cutting board material to make for all of the sliders as it is lighter than steel and won't puncture/crack from experience.

I hear there are some places to play around over here on Smith Mountain, not sure if there is any truth in that or not. I haven't had time to go exploring much yet, I just did the ignition replacement on mine and nearly lost my religion 2 or 3 times.

Here's a pic of the toy.

The only wheelin I have heard of around SML is AEP property and that is most likely trespassing. There just isn't much in the Franklin/Bedford area that is legal unless you can get permission to wheel some private property.

Nice rig, I believe in a low COG as well. I'm running 35's with 5-6" lift and trimmed fenders.

Yeah probably is trespassing. I'll get something figured out. I need to pick up a little hobart 140 so I can weld things over here at the lake..I don't want to drag the big 220v miller welder over here and hack into the panel box.

Probably be a little more ready to go wheeling around here in January if all goes according to plan. There is just a lot of open metal where I cut the rockers and 3" off of the bottom of the doors that needs to be patched in and sealed and rust treated before I go play in mud and what not.

I can only hope this isn't a cruel joke! I haven't seen more than 3" of snow since I move here in '94-- I can't wait to see how the locals handle enough snow to actually need tires with tread.

Calling 3-6" in Winston starting this afternoon. I haven't seen a white Christmas since I was a real little kid.

Would love to drive back from my aunts this afternoon in some snow!

As soon as we woke up to begin our celebration the flakes began falling. We currently have 4" and there is no sign of it letting up anytime soon!

Finally, a white Christmas! :laugh3: :)

They are calling for 2-4" tonight in Cary, possible 6" total by the end of it tomorrow. That sounds like almost nothing to me, but it is more than enough to shut down this entire area. When the white stuff comes down. my phone gets very popular.
