Elecric locker for Dana 35

i think the wants an electric locker for his D35. :wierd:

If thats right let me be the first to say dont waste the money. Swap in a d44 or even better a ford explorer 8.8 with stock limited slip, disk brakes, 4.10 gears and low milage to new condition for approx. $450.

You will be much better off. Please dont buy a electric locker for a d35.

Re: Electric locker for Dana 35

I have been running 33x12.50 with 4.56 gears and a Truetrac in my D35 with ZJ discs for four years now. My XJ is regularly driven offroad in mud but rarely on rock and so far the stock D35 shafts have held up. Having a light foot and Truetracs has probably helped. Not having any alternative (economical) axle options in the UK has forced me to stick with the D35. Funny thing is, both the D35 and the D30 seem stronger than the axles in the local Land Rovers.

The Auburn Gear Ected electric locker is a lockable LSD. With both a 27 spline and 30 spline model that ships Jan 31st 2006. Anyone still wanting to keep ABS or for those without the option of a D44 or 8.8 can get a strength upgrade using Superior's 30 spline Super35 or AlloyUSA Grande axle shafts.

I have seen plenty of D35 axle shafts snap over here. But one thing they have all had in common was that they were on 2.5L diesel Cherokees with manual transmissions. I don't know anyone that has snapped a D35 axleshaft on a 4.0L with an AW4, then again there are not many offroad prepared XJ's here.

I have been considering moving up to a Super35 Detroit Locker kit or a Warn full floater but this new locking LSD gives me another choice. My ideal would be an electric Truetrac with the Eaton ring actuator. Now that Eaton owns Tractech maybe it won't be long before they make one.
