Don't want to ditch the 30, so i'll weld it?

I have an 87' XJ with the vaccum disconnect D30.
I took the diff cover off today to check it, and the
some of the teeth on the spider gears are broken.
I don't have enough cash right now to replace the
guts of the diff right now, nor the money to replace
the entire axle all together. I was thinking about
welding the spiders together, since the driveshaft doesn't
spin on 2wd. I've done a fair amount of searching, but i
haven't found enough feedback. Will welding the front on a
vaccum disconnect axle create problems? I plan on replacing
the entire axle all together at a later date.

if it's a disco, i would weld it. but that's my opinion. unfortunately i don't have a disco axle.

and it really doesn't cost much. save yourself around 50bucks and go to a local junkyard and get yourself some new spider gears.

Ah just put a locker in it.

He doesnt have the money to buy spiders, so a locker might be a bit out of the budget? ;)
