custom battery cables...

I just picked up some new cables to replace the stock stuff. I got 1 guage welding cable for the battery/starter lead and the battery/engine ground and 4 guage for the battery/body ground and battery/fuse box. That should hold up fine since it's only a stock replacement and no extra length or anything, right? I also got the solid copper ends to go with the cables.

did any of you take out your old harness, since its all taped together to do your cables or did you just cut the ends and run it external from the battery wiring loom ?

ditch the old stuff, cut it out. Go buy some new loom and tape it all back up.

I shortened the OEM harness connections as much as I could and crimped/soldered new ends on the OEM harness take-off points - the only major thing I was trying to get good power to and from was the battery, winch and alternator...

All the computer/main harness stuff has plenty of cable diam. to begin with...
